David Joseph Quinn

David Joseph Quinn passed away on May 8, 2017, at the age of 55 years.  Born in Jersey City, David grew up in Pequannock, NJ before moving back to Jersey City for a brief time.  He has resided in Manhattan for the last twenty five years.

David was a former Therapist-LMSW at Community Counseling and Mediation and at St. Luke's Hospital in New York City.  Prior to that, he spent many years as a Recruiter at E-Trade Financial and as Vice President, Client Services at Christofle Silver.  He was a true people person and used his interpersonal skills to the best of his ability.  David will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, his quick wit, his kindness and his ability to brighten every room he entered.

David is predeceased by his parents, Marion (nee Kromphold) and Joseph Quinn and his brother Daniel Quinn.  He is survived by his brother Andrew Quinn and fiance Paul Smith of San Diego, CA, brother Gregg Quinn and his wife Jeanne (LaCorte) of Tinton Falls, NJ, sister Judy (Quinn) Shue and husband Forrest of Green Village, NJ, brother Christopher and wife Elizabeth (Mazza) of Berkeley Heights, NJ and many nieces and nephews.  Also mourned by best friend, Andrew Nagin of NYC.  David was a beloved nephew, cousin and friend to all who knew him.

May those who mourn his passing find comfort that he is at peace and with his parents and brother Danny.  May we find inspiration from David's favorite quote, "You can't find peace from avoiding life" and live each day to the best of our abilities.

Cremation was held privately.  A Memorial Service will be held at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 625 Pavonia Avenue Jersey City, NJ, 07306, on Saturday, May 13, 2017, from 1 to 4 PM.

I am so sad to hear that you are gone, my friend! I knew Dave very well many years ago, but have not seen him in quite a while. But I remember fondly his laughter and smart, quick wit and candor. And he was funny. I'll always remember you.

David was truly engaged with life and with those he chose as his friends. I was lucky enough to be his friend even though I fear I may have let him down in the end and let him slip through my hands. Thinking of you today David. May you rest in peace as the gentle soul you always were.

When I think of Dave, the image that comes to mind is a 15-year-old young man, with braces, and a welcoming and warm smile. I have no doubt that you lived your life in just that way. Rest, now. ~Patti
