Frances Chmielewski

Frances Wares Chmielewski, age 87, of Jersey City, NJ, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Care One at King James, Atlantic Highlands, NJ.  Frances was born to the late Anna and William Wares on March 3, 1930 and was a resident of Jersey City until moving to Middletown eighteen years ago. 

Frances was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph’s Parish in Jersey City. She dedicated most of her time to St. Joseph’s where she taught sewing, worked bingo and volunteered at all of the parish functions. She grew up spending summer vacations in Point Pleasant with her family and friends. She loved to host, entertain, and always lent an ear and gave support for anyone who needed it. Everyone who met her automatically loved her and her smile could light up any room. 

Frances was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward Chmielewski.  She is survived by her devoted children, Lynn Calandro (Larry), Edward Chmielewski (Susan), Karen Gallotto (Geoff), Judy O’Connell (Robert) Lori Harmon (Damian) and cherished grandchildren Christine (Bill), Lisa, Jackie, Jimmy, Geoffrey, Nikki (Gary), Amanda, Kristen, Kimberly, Meghan, Kyle, Ryan (Cilla), Liam, Ashley & Kaleigh and Great Grand Children Gianna, Gabriella & Riley. She also leaves behind numerous loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 625 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City, NJ, on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, from 3 to 8 PM.  Family and friends may assemble at the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church at 10:30 AM.  Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her at Care One at King James, Atlantic Highlands.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Frances’ memory to St. Joseph’s Church are requested.  Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
