Joseph A. Kelly

Joseph A. Kelly of Jersey City passed away suddenly at Christ Hospital on Tuesday, June 21, 2016.  He was 53.

A lifelong Jersey City resident, Joseph was a Laborer with the Laborers Local #3.  He was a graduate of St. John the Baptist Grammar School and Dickinson High School (1980) where he was the All State Quarterback for the Dickinson High School Football Team.  Joseph was a devoted fan of the Oakland Raiders and loved Corvettes, but above all else, Joseph loved his family and friends.  He was a stand up man who was funny, caring and giving to everyone.  All who were fortunate enough to meet him loved him instantly.  

Joseph was predeceased by his grandparents, Anthony and Amelia DeMaio and Joseph and Mary Kelly; his uncle, Anthony DeMaio, aunt Kathleen Kelly and cousin Patrick Mulvaney.

He is survived by his devoted parents, Joseph and Bernadette (nee DeMaio) Kelly, his loving sister, Kathleen Kelly, cherished nieces, Kelli-Anne Lewis and Ashley Murga; uncle Theodore "Teddy" DeMaio; aunt Maureen Mulvaney; great niece, Natalie Murga and many cousins and friends too numerous to mention but all dear to him.

Visitation will be at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 625 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City, NJ on Thursday from 3:00pm to 8:00pm.  relatives and friends are invited to assemble at the funeral home on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 10am prior to the funeral mass which will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church Jersey City at 11:00am.  Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
