Irving F. Ross

Irving F. Ross, "Funky Irv", of Jersey City, passed away, suddenly, on September, 16, 2017.  He was 64 years of age.  Born in Atlantic City, NJ, Irving lived most of his life in Jersey City.  He was employed by the city of Jersey City as a City Inspector for the past seventeen years.  Previously, Irving was President of Maximum Security.

Irving's hobbies included bowling and music.  He has been a member of two bowling leagues for twenty years at the Hudson Bayonne Lanes.  Irving was also a musician, playing drums for local groups in Jersey City, one of which was the opening act for Jersey City's renowned "Kool and the Gang".

Irving is predeceased by his parents, Irving and Anna Mae Ross.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty (nee McCray) Ross; his children, Jasmine Ross, Irving Agosto and his wife, Ivonne and Shawn Agosto and his wife, Milagros; his brother, Steven R. Ross; cherished grandchildren, Adrianna, Makayla, Celeste, Shawn and Emily Agosto.  Irving is also survived by many extended relatives, friends and coworkers throughout the Jersey City community.

Visitation will be held at McLaughlin Funeral Home on Friday, September 22, 2017, from 2 to 7 PM.  Burial will take place on Saturday morning at 11 AM at Bay View Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ.

I remember when you were in the back yard of shawn house and emily went outside and pause then she saw grandpa James and she went to him and then she saw you Mr Ross and she went and hug you and you were surprise because she sometimes is funny about approaching but she recognize you grandpa Ross you will be miss she is sad

I have so many fond memories of Irvin I do not know where to start.Let me tell you about when he and his group use too practice with their band in my backyard on Bidwell Ave and I would be getting calls to stop making so much noise.They were pretty good. He also had Kool and the Gang practice in my yard .Irv played the drums with both groups.Irvin you will be truly missed
