Michael Gerard Kelleher

Michael Gerard Kelleher, 57, of Jersey City passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2018 surrounded by his devoted family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Michael was born and raised in Jersey City.  He was a graduate of St. Aedan's Grammar School, Hudson Catholic High School and attended Hudson County Community College.  After a brief stint in the financial industry with Pershing, Michael worked for PATH as a Car Inspector for over 35 years and was best known by friends and family as a skilled craftsman and builder. With an innate ability to work with his hands, Michael transitioned with ease from electrical work, to masonry, to carpentry and plumbing.
Michael's passion for trades was first realized as a teen, renovating historic brownstones  in Jersey City's bourgeoning downtown. He has since been involved in many building and restoration projects throughout the city.
Michael's friends will remember him for his boundless generosity and willingness to help.  He was most gratified when loaning a tool, replacing a deck or moving furniture for a friend, as evidenced by the stories told by those who came to know his goodness.
Michael is survived by his parents, Philomena and Dennis Kelleher; sisters, Kathleen Kelleher and her husband, Thomas Cangialosi, Maryanne Kelleher and Colleen Kelleher; nieces Tara and Julia Cangialosi and his daughter, Megan Kelleher.
Visitation will be at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 625 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City on Monday from 3:00pm to 8:00pm and Tuesday from 9:30am to 10:30am prior to the Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at St. Aedan’s, the St. Peter’s University Church at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Michael Kelleher to St. Aedan's Church Restoration Fund, 800 Bergen Avenue, Jersey City, NJ  07306
The Kelleher Family would like to give thanks to all who provided comfort and companionship to Michael and our family during his illness.  Special thanks to the staff at Jersey City Medical Center7 West for your professionalism and dedication to caring.

Here are some special memories shared by family and friends.
RIP Mike Say hello to Hector, our buddy. I'm sure he'll receive you with open arms. Your friend @Path Anita

Im so sorry for your loss. The bible is so true when it says the sting of death. Death is truly painful for family and friends. The God of the bible says he's going to swallow up death forever and bring back to life on earth all those who have died in his memory (Isaiah 25:8) This scripture has given me comfort and I pray you receive comfort from it also.

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
