Elsie Pernella Campbell

Elsie Pernela Campbell was born in Kingston, Jamaica on January 23, 1939.  She was an identical twin to Pearline Campbell and they were the last of 10 children to Caleb Campbell and Roslyn Campbell. The twins were inseparable. They lived in multiple locations in Europe initially in England and then for two years in Germany.  They then moved back to their island home in Jamaica in 1969.  In 1987 the pair decided to move yet again, settling on the United States, which they made their permanent home since. Pearline passed in 2009.

Elsie dedicated her life to God in her twenties, initially attending Church of God for over 30 years. She then found the Temple Hall of Jehovah Witnesses and has been an active member for the last two decades of her life.
Elsie started humble as a seamstress and produced school uniforms/clothing for her daughter and others. Her love for caring for others, in particular the elderly, lead her in the Home Health Care field, which she did until her retirement. Elsie was always smiling; she was gentle and kind.  Her favorite pass time was sports. She loved tennis, golf and soccer.  She taught her only daughter many life lessons. She instilled in her the importance of education and ambition.  She taught her that life was about hard work.

She is preceded on her journey to glory and will be reunited with her twin sister, her mother, father and brothers and sisters.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: her daughter Charlaine and her nine-year-old grand daughter Andrea, her nephew Steven Aymes and grandnephew Robert Smith, her niece Betty Jean Smith, and several nieces and nephews in England.

Visitation will be at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 625 Pavonia Avenue Jersey City on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm.  Relatives and friends are invited to a service at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9-10am.  Entombment will follow at Flower Hill Cemetry, North Bergen.
