Halina Zylkiewicz

Halina Zylkiewicz passed away while surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Jersey City Medical Center.  She was 64.
Born in Szklarska Poręba, Poland, Halina came to the United States in 1988 and settled in Jersey City.  She worked at PJ Ryan’s and then at LabCorp in Lyndhurst as a phlebotomist.

Halina was a determined person and always faced the challenges that life presented her with head on  and without reservation.  She changed careers; pushed herself to return to school to become a Phlebotomist and learned to drive later in life.  Halina was a friendly and giving person who was generous with her time and spirit.  She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother who loved to care for her family.  An extraordinary cook, she made every meal and event with her family special.  She will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to know her.

Halina is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Jerzy Zylkiewicz; her devoted son, Arkadiusz Zylkiewicz and his wife Maria; her cherished granddaughter Alexandra Zylkiewicz and her brother Czeslaw Wstepien.  She was predeceased by her brother Miroswal Wstepien.

The wake will be at McLaughlin Funeral Home on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 3 to 8pm.  Interment will be on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Holy Cross Cemetery.  There will be a memorial mass celebrated at St. Ann’s Polish Church, 291 Saint Paul’s Ave. Jersey City on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 9:00am.
