Sarah C. "Sally" Monroe

Sarah C. Monroe, "Sally" (nee Colligan)  of Connecticut, formerly of Jersey City, passed away at the Bishop Wicke Health Care Center in Shelton, Connecticut on December 7, 2017.  She was 93.

Born in Jersey City, Sally was a graduate of St. Mary’s Grammar School and Ferris High School.  She was a retired Lunch Aide at PS 38 School on Stegman Parkway and former member of Our Lady of Victories Rosary Society, St. Aloysius Seniors and Rosary Society and the Hudson Catholic Mother’s Guild.  She was formerly a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Victories Church.

Sally was predeceased by her husband John J. Monroe and her brothers, Thomas, John, Maurice, William, Dennis, Stephen, Vincent, James, Martin, Francis and Bernard.  She is survived by her children, Mary Ertle and John V. Monroe and his wife Colleen; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 625 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City, NJ  07306 on Friday from 4:00pm to 9:00pm.  Relatives and friends are invited to assemble at the funeral home on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10:30am prior to the funeral mass which will be celebrated at St. Aloysius Church, 691 West Side Avenue, Jersey City at 11:30am.  Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
