Robert J. Kearns

Robert J. Kearns, of Jersey City, passed away suddenly, at his daughter's home in Lincroft, NJ, while surrounded by his family. Born in Jersey City, Bobby was a graduate of Dickinson High School and served in the US Army until his honorable discharge in 1954.

He was a Longshoreman with the ILA 1740.  Bobby had a passion for horse racing and was a huge fan of the race track.  He was at Belmont Park when Secretariat won the Triple Crown in 1973.  He was a proud Philadelphia Eagles and New York Yankees fan.

A devoted family man, he dedicated himself to his children and later, grandchildren, who were the joy of his life. 

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan (nee Griffin); his brother, Cornelius John Kearns, Jr. and sisters, Genevieve Kackos and Anna Puccarelli.  He is survived by his loving children, Michael Catlow, Deborah Catlow-Nasce, Robert J. Kearns (JCPD) and his wife Denise (nee Scerbo) and Kelly Corso and her husband Vincent Corso (JCPD) and his grandchildren, Amanda and Madison Nasce and Vanessa and Vincent Corso. 

Visitation will be at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 625 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City on Thursday from 2:00pm-8:00pm.  Relatives and friends are invited to assemble at the funeral home on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 10:00am prior to the funeral mass which will be celebrated at St. Aedan's Church, Jersey City at 11:00am.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, Room 320, 370 Seventh Avenue, New York, NY  10001.
