Tessie B. Glaraga

Tessie B. Glaraga of Jersey City passed away at her residence while surrounded by her family.  She was 77.  Born in Bacolod, Philippines, Tessie came to the United States in 1969 as a Registered Nurse under sponsorship from the Long Island College Hospital.  She settled in Brooklyn eventually moving to Jersey City in 1978 where she has since remained.  Tessie worked for Long Island College Hospital until retiring in 201.
Tessie loved to travel and traversed Europe enjoying Ireland particularly.  An amazing cook, Tessie loved entertaining, dancing and doting on her children and grandchildren.  Described by those who loved her as “feisty” Tessie loved to line dance, and was active in the Grace Church Senior Group where she would enjoy exercising and Zumba.  She had a sharp mind which she kept even sharper with her love of Mahjong. All those who had the privilege of knowing Tessie will miss her enthusiastic spirit, love and kindness.
Tessie was predeceased by her siblings, Ceasar, Jimmy and Elmore Dela Pena Bayot.  She is survived by her devoted children, Gina Acevedo and her husband Hector, George Glaraga, Jr. and his wife Roselyn and Glenn Garaga; siblings, Eliseo Dela Pena Bayot; Gloria Bayot-Brant, Abraham Dela Pena Bayot and Rosalinda Dela Pena Bayot; grandchildren Gregory and Izabelle Acevedo; nephews Romy and Jeffrey Brant and Jerico and Jiffer Minguilo; niece Jellyn Agtoto; great niece Eliez Bayot and many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at McLaughlin Funeral Home on Monday, January 9, 2017 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm with a funeral service at the funeral home from 7-8:00pm. Cremation will be private.
